Labial tissue comes in many different sizes and shapes. In some individuals the labia minora (the inner frond of tissue) can be quite large and redundant creating both a cosmetic and sometime functional concern.
Dr. Kerluke, as a plastic surgeon, incorporates new techniques in creating aesthetic and functional reductions/reconstructions of this excess tissue to create a more normal-appearing labia.
Labiaplasty can be performed under local anesthesia, but most times, a light general anaesthetic would be most comfortable for the patient.
As with most procedures, surgery is not for everyone, but if you have a concern with this area of your anatomy, a full consultation and assessment can help you decide if would benefit from labiaplasty surgery.
