Sagging skin
over the eyes or a person with deep frown lines due to
stress of muscle over activity may be the result of a
naturally low brow. A person with this condition could
possibly benefit from a browlift.
Three techniques are used when performing this surgery and
depend on clinical findings such as brow height, amount of
excess upper eyelid skin and the height of the hairline. The
first technique uses an incision across the top of the
scalp, beginning above the ears and is hidden in the hair.
The second may be placed at the front of the hairline or the
middle of the scalp. The last technique, and most common,
uses an endoscope, a long, thin tube with a light on the
end, attached to a video camera. It is inserted through
several tiny incisions in the scalp and although not
beneficial to all patients it has the advantage of requiring
minimal incisions. Muscles can be modified and excess skin
removed to lift your eyebrows to a more youthful level.
Swelling and bruising should be gone within two weeks.
