As the
aging process begins, the changes to the facial structure
lead to sagging, deep creases, folds and wrinkles. These
usually begin in your late thirties to early forties.
Now there
is a safe and effective procedure that provides a
natural-looking result. The procedure does not replace the
conventional facelift; however, it does provide a minimally
invasive, less aggressive approach. The procedure employs
special sutures (threads) that are made from clear
polypropylene, a material that has been used in other
medical products for years.
The
threads are used to reposition the sagging cheeks, jowls and
neck. They can also lift sagging eyebrows and adjust an
asymmetric face or brows.
These
threads have tiny cogs that, once inserted in the skin, work
like umbrellas with tension to gently lift the sagging
tissues. Because of the special design, the surrounding
tissues act to hold the threads in place without the need
for visible scars. The body then generates new collagen that
surrounds the thread to maintain the lifting effect.
The
contour threads procedure usually takes about 60 minutes
and, in most cases, there is minimal discomfort, bruising or
swelling. You can usually return to work or normal
activities in about one week.
The
length of the results varies dependent on age, degree of
sagging and number of threads used.
